What is Stillness

My intention is to give you a moment of stillness in your busy day. These essays are reflections on art and slowing down, on landscape photography and wilderness travel. Each essay is meant to give you pause, spark your imagination and reflect on the value of being in nature, in being creative, in seeing life in all its beautiful complexity.

Who am I

I am a photographer artist and writer. Inspiration comes from sleeping under the stars, walking in alpine mountains, hearing pines sway in wind, reading passages of Thoreau or Muir, Abbey or Han Shan. Connecting with wilderness inspires my photography, my writing, and my philosophy. I seek balance found in the way of nature. My aim is to go deeper than simple ornamental beauty, it is to show something more, to show what I felt and to capture the sublime poetry of a landscape. Beyond tools and technique lies discovery.

Why should I be a paid subscriber

My content is always free. When something is paid for it has a different value attached to it, it allows me the gracious space to write, and it provides you with the gratifying feeling of financially supporting the arts.
